"A Sense of Place
It is often overlooked that the creative works of artists are influenced by the ambience of their living and workspaces, which are drawn from Papatuanuku. This influences them directly or indirectly during the creative process. This is the case of those potent Island filmmakers who are deeply rooted in their sense of place here on Waiheke Island.
2018 WI FILMMAKERS SYNOPSIS indicates our residents who have streamed elements of their works from this footprint. In the gathering of artworks that are Hauraki Gulf specific, Manawhenua, Tangata Whenua and Waiheke Island centric we want to bring about a collective approach to Artworks that can be celebrated and acknowledged. The two upcoming film evenings begin a pathway of recognising our WI FILMMAKERS and will continue into 2019, 2020 to acknowledge new works.
We appreciate your support...." - George Kahi
