Matariki Exhibtions
SMALL GALLERY. 18 Jun - 12 Jul 2010
We celebrate Matariki with "A Womans's work is never done" - responses from Fibre and Fashion Artists to "Maranga Ake": a celebration of wahine, and their tireless dedication to manakitanga, whanaungatanga, and to ensuring the continuity of traditions that weave themselves into place in a modern world. Curated by Jeanine Clarkin who creates Funky Urban Street Wear, the celebration features work by 20 different artists and will open with a live presentation as part of the opening night celebrations. There will be an Artists Talk Saturday 19th June at 11am here at the gallery, all welcome!
"United Schools Matariki" is a collection of work contributed by the pupils of Waiheke Schools. Curated by Jaq Carter, these works will be interspersed with those making up "Maranga Ake", and both exhibitions will extend across all three galleries. These exhibtions are supported by Te Puni Kokiri and Auckland City Council.
