Who Are We?

The Waiheke Community Art Gallery - established in 1995 – is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the visual arts within our island environment. We are an incorporated society (Waiheke Community Art Gallery Society Inc.), managed by a volunteer executive committee with members elected annually by the Society. We survive through community grants, sponsorships, patronage, membership fees, sale of works from exhibitions and though the gallery shop which features ceramics, glass, paintings and jewellery from all over New Zealand.

Our programmes and artists
We have an active programme of up to 32 exhibitions a year, as well as educational and cultural activities. Exhibitors include many of the island’s very talented local artists as well as national artists by invitation.

Our links to the community
Throughout the year our exhibitions also involve community groups such as the Waste Resources Trust, Forest & Bird Society, the Historical Society, Wetlands Initiative, Artists with Disabilities and both primary and secondary schools. In the summer school holidays we run workshops for children and through the year we present a range of talks and book launches.
